COBRA Subsidy Extended Until End of February
In February 2009, Congress passed the Recovery and Reinvestment (ARRA) to help tackle the nation’s economic crisis. An important part of the ARRA has been health insurance for workers who lose their jobs.
Under the ARRA, the dismissed employees who were eligible for COBRA received help paying for health insurance. The federal grant pays 65% of the monthly premium cost of an employee of COBRA for up to nine months for those laid off between September 2008 and December 2009.
Duration of the subsidy extended
